She paid ₹2.83 lakh per square foot. She also paid ₹63.9 crore in stamp duty and GST, bringing the total cost of the luxurious seaside duplex flats to ₹703 crore.Who is Leena Gandhi Tewari?The pharma tycoon Leena Gandhi Tewari, who executed the country’s most expensive property deal, has a net worth of ₹30,000 crore and is among the richest businesswomen in India. Her husband Prashant Tewari and their children are also associated with the company.Worli has previously witnessed many high-value real estate transactions by industrialists. Recently, banker Uday Kotak purchased all the flats in a building in this area for ₹400 crore.In 2024, the national record for the highest per square foot price in the real estate market was also set in South Mumbai. During that time, flats on Altamount Road were sold at ₹2.25 lakh per square foot, and on Bhulabhai Desai Road at ₹2.09 lakh per square foot, both to other wealthy individuals.According to a survey, 59 ultra-luxurious property deals worth ₹4,063 crore were made in 2024. Out of these, 52 took place in Mumbai alone.
