SMC seize ₹6.1 lakh worth of liquor, vehicles, and cash in prohibition raid
In a major crackdown against illegal liquor trade, Udhna Police Station carried out a raid under the SMC Prohibition squad at Udhyog Nagar, Udhna, Surat city on May 25-26. The operation resulted in the seizure of Indian Made Foreign Liquor (IMFL), country liquor, cash, vehicles, and various other items worth a total of ₹ 6.1 lakh.According to police officials, the raid led to the confiscation of 256 bottles and tins of IMFL valued at ₹62,486, along with 9.8 litres of country liquor worth ₹1,960. In addition, police seized ₹18,000 in cash, ten two-wheelers valued at ₹3.35 lakh, and a three-wheeler worth ₹50,000.A total of 27 mobile phones valued at ₹1.35 lakh, two Paytm QR code receiver devices worth ₹ 1,000, and a dip freezer worth ₹ 5,000 were also recovered. Other seized items with an estimated worth of ₹1,500.Police stated that one accused,who was working as a liquor vendor at the illegal IMFL stand, has been released on notice as a minor involved in the case. Meanwhile, 25 other accused were handed over to the police station for further investigation.The accused have been identified as Ganesh Saadi, Shivam Pandey, Nanhe lalsinh, Rahul Chaudhary, Mahesh Jadav, Dhamdas Labde, Naresh Gujariya, Mukesh Baraiya, Kiran Boricha, Sachin Solanki, Sunny Solanki, Ramakshray Rajbhar, Rohit Nisaad, Jitendra Gauda, Sanjaykumar Jina, Dipak Vankhedey, Ramesh Sirsaath, Brijesh Pathande, Vipulkumar Chavda, Sonu Japale, Pavan Bansod, Ravindrakumar Gulabdhar, Kishore Kapore, Yogesh Patel, and Pradipkumar Nisaat.The accused Ganesh Saadi, Shivam Pandey, and Nanhe Lalsinh have been identified as liquor vendors at the ‘pithu’ stand, while accused others were found to be customers who had gathered at the spot for the consumption of IMFL and country liquor.A wanted accused, identified as Nawab Sheikh, who allegedly operated the ‘pithu’ and procured IMFL and country liquor, is yet to be apprehended.
