AAP announces candidates, star campaigners for Kadi, Visavadar bypolls

By-elections are set to be held for the Kadi and Visavadar Assembly constituencies in Gujarat. The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has officially announced its candidates for both seats. AAP Gujarat President Isudan Gadhvi declared Jagdish Chavda as the party’s candidate for the Kadi constituency, while Gopal Italia will contest from Visavadar.Isudan Gadhvi stated that AAP will contest strongly in Kadi and Visavadar and emerge victorious. The Aam Aadmi Party will make a mark in Gujarat.The Visavadar seat became vacant after Bhupat Bhayani resigned from AAP and joined the BJP. Meanwhile, the Kadi seat was vacated due to the demise of sitting MLA Karshan Solanki. The bypolls for these constituencies are scheduled for June 19, with results to be announced on June 23.In addition to the candidates, AAP has also released a list of its star campaigners for the bypolls. The list includes top national leaders such as Arvind Kejriwal, Bhagwant Mann, Manish Sisodia, Raghav Chadha, Sunita Kejriwal, and Isudan Gadhvi, among a total of 40 campaigners.ગુજરાતમાં કડી અને વિસાવદર પેટાચૂંટણી માટે આમ આદમી પાર્ટીના સ્ટાર પ્રચારકોની જાહેરાત કરવામાં આવી.???? pic.twitter.com/RaiX5k98vi— AAP Gujarat (@AAPGujarat) May 30, 2025 Due to the bypolls in Kadi and Visavadar, elections to local gram panchayats within these constituencies have been temporarily postponed.According to the State Election Commission, under Section 15(1) of the Gujarat Panchayat Act, 1993, and Rules 9(2) and 70 of the Gujarat Panchayat Election Rules, 1994, election dates for 8,326 gram panchayats in the state had been scheduled. However, due to the deployment of staff for the 2025 assembly by-elections, gram panchayat elections in affected talukas – Kadi and Jotana in Kadi (SC reserved) constituency and Visavadar, Bhesan, Junagadh (rural), and Bagasara in Visavadar constituency – have been put on hold.A fresh election schedule for these panchayats will be announced after the completion of the bypoll process.
