Tamil Actor Rajesh Died of Low Blood Pressure: What Is It?

Sources close to the actor informed the media that on the day of his demise, Rajesh suffered from a severe and sudden drop in blood pressure before he collapsed completely. Despite best efforts, he could not be revived. Ww reached out to experts to understand this condition better, and know what exactly happens when the blood pressure drops suddenly.

Speaking to TheHealthSite.com, Dr Prithvi Singh Bhaduria, Apollo Hospitals, said, “A sudden drop in blood pressure can be detrimental to the body. In medical terminology, the condition is called ‘hypotension’. When BP falls below the required range, it can affect the blood flow within the body – causing cells damage and eventually their death. Underlying conditions such as diabetes, heart disease, or are on medications like beta-blockers or diuretics can mess with blood pressure. A sudden drop in systolic pressure can cause fainting, falls, or even strokes.”

What Happens In The Body When Blood Pressure Drops Suddenly?

Hypotension, also known as low blood pressure, is a serious health condition that occurs when the pressure at which the blood is flowing inside the heart arteries is lower than normal. As per studies, blood pressure should is measured using two numbers — systolic (pressure during heartbeat) and diastolic (pressure between beats). And when we talk about the normal range of BP for an adult, it means the person should have it in this format – 120/80 mmHg.

Reduced Blood Flow to Organs

With a sudden drop in blood pressure – the blood flow to the cells stops – this can cause less oxygen and nutrients reaching the cells.

Brain Gets Less Oxygen

Another side effects of a sudden drop in blood pressure is brain cells death. Yes, you read that right! When BP drops, it can lead to less blood and oxygen flow to the brain cells – killing each of them slowly.

Heart Struggles to Pump Efficiently

The heart may beat faster to try and compensate, leading to palpitations or a rapid heartbeat (tachycardia).

Kidneys May Begin to Malfunction

Prolonged hypotension can reduce kidney filtration, leading to fluid and toxin buildup in the body.

Tissue Damage in Severe Cases

In extreme cases—like shock—cells and tissues don’t get the oxygen they need, leading to organ failure and, if untreated, even death.
