COVID-19 Cases In India Live News Updates: India is witnessing a surge in cases of the coronavirus. As of May 27, India has logged 1100 cases of the covid 19 in total. The surge has been brought up amid the outbreak of newly detected sub-variants which are NB.1.8.1 and LF.7. The variants are extensively mutated and currently being tracked and monitored by the health authorities. These descendants of the omicron variant have been classified as the ‘Variants under monitoring’ by the World Health Organisation and not the ‘variants of concern.’ The government, along with health officials, is tracking the variants and studying them to develop possible treatments, but the reason for the spread remains unknown.

COVID-19 Situation In India: States-Wise Details

COVID-19 cases in India are on a constant rise, with the maximum strain of infections by the new sub-variants residing in the states of Maharashtra, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, and Kerala. The total coronavirus cases in India reached 1010 on May 27.

The Southern States on the Radar

The brunt of the action by the virus is being borne by the Southern States where states like Kerala are leading in India with a maximum number of cases.
Kerala has the highest tally with a number of 430 cases, which include 335 new infections making it the state with the highest single-day tally among all states. Maharashtra follows in the race with 210 confirmed cases, 154 of which are latent.

COVID Cases Surge In Delhi-NCR

The situation of COVID cases, though not alarming, has still reached the national capital, Delhi, where a notable rise has been seen, recording 99 new cases and pushing its total count to 104. The neighboring city of Noida has also logged 19 new cases comprising 11 women and 8 men, speaking of them, Dr. Tikam Singh, Deputy Chief Medical Officer, informed that all patients are experiencing only mild symptoms such as the common cold and are currently at home quarantine.

Arunachal Pradesh Records Its First Case

Arunachal Pradesh recorded its first case where a 34-year-old pregnant woman who arrived in Itanagar from Bengaluru on May 13 tested positive via RT-PCR after earlier showing symptoms of mild cough and fever and even her 53-year-old mother tested positive but remains asymptomatic, the situation in other parts of India remains vulnerable as states like Gujarat and Haryana are seeing an uptick in the cases, where certain states like Karnataka and Uttar Pradesh have also recorded deaths from the covid, in Uttar Pradesh a 78-year-old Firozabad resident, who was admitted to an Agra hospital reportedly for a hip fracture and head injury, died post testing positive for COVID-19. While the cause of death remains uncertain, health officials have observed that he was also suffering prior multiple health conditions.

Maharashtra Remains COVID Hotspot

Maharashtra has been seeing a rise in the cases where Thane city has added 24 new cases under its name out of which nine of the patients are hospitalized, and 46 are under home quarantine, one patient with a history of diabetes died last week.

The situation is still not alarming but health officials and the government are constantly working to tackle the threat, The Indian Medical Association – Karnataka State Branch has even issued advisories to doctors amid rising cases. The health authorities have urged the people to take precautions and follow necessary protocols. People are advised to wear masks, use sanitizer and put their traveling plans on hold for a time being, at least until the situation becomes normal.
