Drunk PSI causes accidents in Vadodara, pleads for release from lock-up the next day
A police sub-inspector from Rajpipla Police, identified as Y H Padhiyar, caused chaos on Vadodara streets late Saturday night after driving under the influence of alcohol. Padhiyar lost control of his vehicle near Chhani Gurudwara, hitting a two-wheeler and a car, injuring two women constables on duty.According to reports, PSI Padhiyar was officially on leave at the time of the incident. He was reportedly driving home to Botad, dressed in uniform, while intoxicated. Near the Chhani Bridge, he first collided with a two-wheeler carrying Mahila Lok Rakshak constables Ankita Gadhvi and Darshana, who were assigned to the prime minister’s security rehearsal. Both women sustained injuries in the crash.Shortly after, Padhiyar’s vehicle struck another car further down the road, causing a crowd to gather and blocking traffic. Chhani police quickly intervened, apprehending Padhiyar and taking him into custody.Eyewitnesses recorded videos clearly showing Padhiyar visibly intoxicated and shouting throughout the night while held in police lock-up. He reportedly sobered up around 4 am, and pleaded with folded hands to be released.Taking swift action, Narmada District Police Chief Prashant Sube suspended PSI Padhiyar.
