41 years later, former DGP Kuldeep Sharma found guilty of assaulting Congress leader in Kutch

The Bhuj Sessions Court has convicted former director general of police (DGP) Kuldeep Sharma and Girish Vasavda, and sentenced them to three months in jail after 41 years of the incident.On May 6, 1984, Congress leader Abdul Haji Ibrahim went to meet then-IPS officer Kuldeep Sharma in connection with a case in Naliya, Kutch. During the meeting, both of them were reportedly involved in a heated argument.  According to reoprts, Sharma, agitated with Ibrahim, physically assaulted him. Sharma’s colleague, Girish Vasavada, and others were also involved in the incident. The court considered the act of assaulting and humiliating individuals who had come to a government office as a serious and inappropriate act. The Bhuj Sessions Court has convicted former director general of police (DGP) Kuldeep Sharma and Girish Vasavda, and sentenced them to three months in jail after 41 years of the incident.

On May 6, 1984, Congress leader Abdul Haji Ibrahim went to meet then-IPS officer Kuldeep Sharma in connection with a case in Naliya, Kutch.
