Delayed results cost GTU students 2025 GSSSB recruitment; they demand fair chance to apply

Hundreds of diploma engineering students from Gujarat Technological University (GTU) may miss the 2025 Gujarat Secondary Service Selection Board (GSSSB) recruitment drive due to a delay in the announcement of final semester results. The affected students are now demanding a fair chance to apply once their results are declared. On its official website, GSSSB recently announced recruitment for 824 Additional Assistant Engineer (Civil), Class-3 posts and 513 Work Assistant, Class-3 posts. As per the notification, the last date to apply for the Additional Assistant Engineer post is May 27, and for the Work Assistant post is June 3.While diploma students from private universities had already completed their exams and received results, GTU’s final semester exams ended only on May 16, and the results are expected around July 14. As the GSSSB notice clearly states that only candidates with completed diplomas can apply, GTU students are automatically excluded from the current application process.Several students have submitted written appeals to Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel and the GSSSB, urging the board to consider a supplementary application window after GTU’s results are announced. They argue that without this, a significant chunk of qualified candidates from public institutions are being unfairly left out.“We’ve worked just as hard as other diploma students. It’s not our fault the university results are delayed. Why should we lose this opportunity?” said one student from a GTU-affiliated college, who preferred not to be named. Also read:GSSSB rejects 122 police photographer aspirants for not procuring exam fee receipt despite payment
