No need to panic, isolate people with symptoms: Gujarat health minister on new COVID variant
Gujarat Health Minister Rushikesh Patel on Monday said that the new COVID variant, JF 1, is a form of the Omicron. He added that many countries are on alert with the variant, but a number of patients recover from the illness that usually occurs with this variant. Most of the patients are currently receiving treatment under home isolation.He urged the people of the state to isolate the person as soon as possible if such symptoms appear at home, and other than that, there is no need to panic.Patel added that the state’s health department is in constant discussions with the Centre, and though caution should be exercised, there is no need to panic.The minister was speaking to the media at the UN Mehta Institute of Cardiology and Research Centre, just a day before Prime Minister Narendra Modi will remotely inaugurate the satellite center of the UN Mehta Institute of Cardiology and Research Centre (Cardiac and Neuro Care) built at a cost of ₹84 crore in Gandhinagar on May 27.
