GPSC cancels drugs inspector interviews, recruitment process under scrutiny
The Gujarat Public Service Commission (GPSC) on May 17 announced the cancellation of the interview for the drugs inspector late in the evening.“It has come to the notice of the commission that an interview expert had conducted a mock interview in Sardardham. Considering this, the commission has cancelled the interview conducted for two days, the date of which will be announced soon,” tweeted Hasmukh Patel, chairman of GPSC.“To prevent this from happening in the future, a written form will be filled in advance by the panel members,” he added.The expert who was to conduct the interview of the drugs inspector took mock interviews of the candidates two days ago. Not only this, he had also offered guidance. Now, keeping in mind that interview scores hold 50% of the weightage for the results of the recruitment, the interviews have been canceled.Interview process under scrutinyThis brought to the surface the ongoing issues with the GPSC interview process.There has been a demand to bring transparency by reducing the weightage of the interview after candidates who scored well in the written exam were failed in the interview stage.Congress spokesperson Dr. Manish Doshi also alleged injustice in earlier tests, noting that two candidates who scored well in the written examination by scoring 208.56 marks out of 300, could not clear the interview by scoring only 35 marks out of 100.
