Congress alleges possibility of ₹1000 cr scam in Dahod MGNREGA case
Leader of the Opposition in the Gujarat Legislative Assembly, Amit Chavda on Friday claimed that after two sons of Dahod’s minister Bachu Khabad were sent to jail, it has now emerged that ₹293 crore has been spent over 4 years under MGNREGA in Jambughoda, the smallest taluka in Gujarat’s Panchmahal district. “If an investigation is conducted in Dahod, corruption worth ₹1,000 crore could be exposed,” he claimed.“In a blatant violation of the 60:40 ratio rule (labour to material), 78% of the funds were allegedly spent on purchasing materials, suggesting massive corruption,” said Chavda. He alleged that BJP leaders and their associates are openly engaging in corruption under the MGNREGA scheme in Gujarat. Chavda emphasised that MGNREGA was a scheme introduced by the UPA government and continues to receive a large budget under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s government. He further said, “Instead of providing employment to the people, BJP leaders are allegedly filling their own pockets with these funds. Exposing a major scam, Chavda said that similar to Dahod, massive corruption has now been uncovered in Jambughoda taluka of Panchmahal district. The taluka includes 26 village panchayats with a total population of just 42,000. The MGNREGA expenditure figures are: ₹54 crore in 2021–22, ₹128.99 crore in 2022–23, ₹69.88 crore in 2023–24, and ₹40.38 crore in 2024–25.”Chavda stated that he received information from BJP workers themselves about the material supplies, which were allegedly made through companies like Giriraj Traders, Giriraj Trading Company, and Jay Mataji Suppliers. He added that this information would be taken directly to Prime Minister Narendra Modi when he visits Dahod. Chavda remarked that even in Modi’s rule, the so-called “watchmen” (chowkidars) of the BJP are themselves stealing. These watchmen ensure that not even a single rupee sent from Delhi reaches the people.Evidence provide by Congress
