Congress Leader Prabhutokiya Alleges BJP Has ‘Hijacked’ Dadra Nagar Haveli Elections

The political atmosphere in Dadra & Nagar Haveli has intensified ahead of the upcoming Silvassa Municipal and District Panchayat elections. After the completion of the nomination process, Congress leader Prabhutokiya launched a strong attack against the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), alleging that the entire election process has been “hijacked” in favor of the BJP.

According to Prabhutokiya, several opposition candidates’ nomination papers were unjustly rejected, raising questions about the transparency and fairness of the election process.

 Prabhutokiya’s Statement

Speaking to reporters, Prabhutokiya said:

“Our entire Congress team, along with Aam Aadmi Party and other opposition members, were in close coordination. Yet, our candidates did not receive the required nomination documents on time. From basic preparation to official training, everything was manipulated to favor the BJP. Officers were deliberately placed under political pressure to tilt the election machinery toward the ruling side.”

He further added that certain administrative officials, including the Returning Officer (RO) and the District Collector, were either recently transferred or politically influenced to act in the BJP’s interest.

“This election has been completely hijacked. The entire administration, including the Election Office, is working under BJP’s influence. Even officials whose transfers were finalized have been brought back to handle critical election duties,” Prabhutokiya claimed.

 Legal Action Planned

The Congress leader announced that the party will pursue legal action against the alleged irregularities.

“Our top leadership, including Rahul Gandhi, has been informed about the situation. We will take this matter to the Election Commission and challenge the biased conduct of the authorities,” he said.

The Dadra & Nagar Haveli and Silvassa elections are expected to witness a direct contest between the Congress and the BJP. The region has long been politically influenced by administrator Praful Patel, whose role has often drawn criticism from opposition parties.

Opposition leaders have repeatedly claimed that the administration uses its power to suppress dissenting voices and manipulate the electoral process.

The allegations by Prabhutokiya have added new intensity to the political battle in the union territory. As the Election Commission faces pressure to ensure a fair and transparent process, all eyes are now on how it responds to these serious accusations.
