The new Mumbai Enterprise Campus, scheduled to open in summer 2026, represents a major leap in transnational education for the prestigious UK-based institution.The announcement came as part of an event in New Delhi commemorating the fifth anniversary of India’s National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, a sweeping reform initiative aimed at transforming the country’s higher education landscape. During the event, Professor Evelyn Welch, Vice Chancellor and President of the University of Bristol, was presented with a Letter of Intent by Vineet Joshi, Secretary of Higher Education and Acting Chairman of the University Grants Committee.“This is a pivotal transformation in our 150-year history,” said Professor Welch. “Creating a campus in Mumbai supports our ambition to be a top 50 global university and builds a globally inclusive future we’re proud to shape in partnership.”Mumbai was strategically chosen due to its global standing in technology, innovation, and the arts fields that strongly align with Bristol’s academic strengths. The initiative is part of the University’s broader internationalisation strategy, which includes global partnerships, knowledge exchange, and enhancing student mobility.The Mumbai Enterprise Campus will provide globally recognised curricula, with strong industry linkages to help graduates pursue international careers and contribute to India’s growing demand for a skilled workforce. Bristol also plans to extend its Think Big scholarship programme to students at the new campus.This announcement comes shortly after Bristol unveiled the UK’s most powerful supercomputer and prepares to launch its Temple Quarter Enterprise Campus in the UK next year underscoring a period of significant global expansion for the University.
