Vadodara carpenter dies by suicide in Ahmedabad hotel, names 4 moneylenders in suicide note

Narsinh Ram Ghevram SutharA 42-year-old carpenter from Vadodara was found hanging in a hotel room near Kalupur railway station on Wednesday morning, with a suicide note alleging sustained harassment by four moneylenders from whom he had borrowed money at high interest.The deceased, identified as Narsinh Ram Ghevram Suthar, a native of Rajasthan and recently shifted to Vadodara with family, had travelled to Ahmedabad on August 5 along with his son Jayesh, 20, to inspect a potential work site. Jayesh last spoke with his father at 11 pm that night, following which he returned to Vadodara, while his father remained in the city.As per the FIR filed by Jayesh at Kalupur police station, his mother last spoke with Narsinh around 7 am on August 6. When the family was unable to reach him thereafter, Jayesh approached a family friend, Madanlal Suthar, and later visited the Vadodara taluka police station to lodge a missing person’s complaint.Upon tracing Narsinh's phone location to the vicinity of Kalupur railway station, Madanlal and other relatives travelled to Ahmedabad and began making enquiries at hotels nearby. Staff at Hotel Manila confirmed Narsinh had checked into room number 202. When repeated knocking went unanswered and the door appeared locked from inside, the family peered through the door handle and saw Narsinh’s body. They immediately contacted the Ahmedabad Police Control Room.Police personnel from Kalupur police station and emergency services broke open the door and found Narsinh hanging from the ceiling fan with a rope. He was declared dead at the scene. During preliminary investigation, a suicide note written in Hindi was recovered from his possession.The note reportedly named four individuals – Kirtibhai Paras, Brijesh Patel, Bharatji Rajpurohit (Nani), and Bajrang Singh – from whom Narsinh had allegedly borrowed substantial amounts of money at usurious rates. Despite having repaid five to ten times the borrowed sums, the note claims that the lenders continued to harass, threaten, and abuse him, pushing him to take the extreme step.Further inquiry revealed that the loans had been facilitated through Narsinh’s friend, Laxmanbhai. According to the complaint, Narsinh had taken ₹7 lakh from Kirtibhai, ₹8 lakh from Brijesh Patel, ₹3 lakh from Bharatji Rajpurohit, and ₹10 lakh from Bajrang Singh. The family alleges that persistent mental harassment by these four individuals led to his death by suicide.A case has been registered under relevant sections of the BNS pertaining to abetment of suicide and criminal intimidation. Authorities said they are verifying the claims made in the suicide note and statements of the named individuals will be recorded.The body has been sent for post-mortem examination, and further investigation is underway.
