Man kills 5-year-old stepdaughter in Mumbai, dumps body in sea
A 40-year-old man allegedly killed his 5-year-old stepdaughter in Mumbai by strangling her and later dumping her body in the Arabian Sea on Tuesday, the police said.The incident came to light when the child’s body was found floating near Sassoon Dock in south Mumbai on Tuesday morning by Colaba police.According to reports, the girl had been missing from the Antop Hill area in Central Mumbai. Her stepfather, identified as Shaikh, and her mother Nazia, who works as a domestic help, had approached Antop Hill police station to file a missing complaint for the child, officials said.Following the complaint, the police registered a case of kidnapping against an unidentified person. During the investigation, officials examined CCTV footage from Antop Hill and nearby areas and reportedly saw the child with her stepfather, raising suspicion about his involvement in the case.After the girl’s body was recovered from the sea, the police took Shaikh into custody for questioning. During interrogation, Shaikh allegedly confessed to killing his stepdaughter and dumping her body in the sea, officials added.
