Today, acting on reliable intelligence, Police Station Akhnoor received information that a vehicle bearing registration number JK02AK-9327, suspected to be transporting adulterated Cheese was enroute to Akhnoor. The Police recently seized 800 kgs of fake cheese in Jammu.
In response, a special naka was promptly established by the police team of PS Akhnoor. The suspected vehicle was intercepted and subjected to checking. During the search, approximately 50–60 kg of suspected adulterated Cheese was recovered from the vehicle.
Upon initial questioning, the driver identified himself as Ram Paul, son of Bishamber Ram, resident of Khour. However, he failed to provide a satisfactory explanation regarding the origin and destination of the Cheese.
The Food Safety Department was immediately informed, and shortly thereafter, a team led by the Food Safety Officer (FSO),Akhnoor, arrived at the scene. Samples were collected and subjected to preliminary testing, which confirmed the Cheese to be adulterated/substandard.
Following the confirmation, the entire quantity was destroyed on the spot by the concerned department as per protocol. Legal action has been initiated under relevant provisions of the law against the driver and any other individuals found involved.
The Jammu Police remains committed to ensuring public health and safety and urges citizens to report any suspicious activities related to food safety or public welfare.
