History-sheeter vandalises 20 autos in drunken rage in Jamalpur, arrested
A man with a long history of criminal offences was arrested late on Sunday night after he allegedly vandalised nearly 20 autorickshaws in a drunken rage in the Jamalpur area of Ahmedabad.The accused, identified as Salman Nagori, reportedly went on a rampage outside his residence near Vasant Rajab police chowky, smashing the windshields and damaging the bodywork of several parked rickshaws.According to Police Inspector Chirag Gosai of Gaekwad Haveli police station, the incident occurred on the night of July 27 when Nagori returned home in an inebriated state. Upon finding 15 to 20 autorickshaws parked outside the driveway of his residence, he allegedly became enraged and began damaging the vehicles with blunt objects.“Several rickshaws sustained heavy damage before he could be restrained,” said PI Gosai, adding that police intervened swiftly after receiving calls from nearby residents and the rickshaw drivers. Following multiple complaints from the affected autorickshaw owners, police arrested Nagori and registered a case against him.Nagori is a known history-sheeter with over 30 cases to his name at Gaekwad Haveli, Rakhial and other police stations. His criminal record includes offences ranging from assault to repeated violations of Gujarat’s liquor prohibition laws.Police officials said further investigation is underway to determine whether Nagori was acting alone or if others were involved in the incident. The incident has sparked concern among residents, who have demanded stricter surveillance in the area to curb such acts of public disorder.
