Two British families received wrong remains of AI crash victims, claims report; India responds
In a shocking development following the Air India crash, at least two families of crash victims in the UK have claimed to have received the wrong bodies, according to the Daily Mail. As per the British daily, the bereaved families received wrongly identified bodies of their loved ones. Relatives of one victim had to abandon funeral plans after being informed that their coffin contained the body of an unknown passenger rather than their family member, the daily reported.Moreover, in another case, the family received ‘comingled’ remains of more than one deceased in the same casket.This comes days before Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi visits the United Kingdom. As per reports, UK PM Keir Starmer is expected to raise the issue during his visit.India respondsExternal Affairs ministry spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal responded to the Daily Mail’s Tuesday report by saying that Indian authorities are working with their UK counterparts on the issue.Jaiswal said that India has been working closely with the UK side from the moment these concerns and issues were brought to their attention.“In the wake of the tragic crash, the concerned authorities had carried out identification of victims as per established protocols and technical requirements. All mortal remains were handled with utmost professionalism and with due regard for the dignity of the deceased,” he said.Jaiswal also added that they are working with the UK authorities on addressing any concerns related to this issue.

India responds
External Affairs ministry spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal responded to the Daily Mail’s Tuesday report by saying that Indian authorities are working with their UK counterparts on the issue.
Jaiswal said that India has been working closely with the UK side from the moment these concerns and issues were brought to their attention.
“In the wake of the tragic crash, the concerned authorities had carried out identification of victims as per established protocols and technical requirements. All mortal remains were handled with utmost professionalism and with due regard for the dignity of the deceased,” he said.
Jaiswal also added that they are working with the UK authorities on addressing any concerns related to this issue.
