Rahul Gandhi to support education of 22 kids orphaned by Pakistan firing in Poonch

Amid high tension between India and Pakistan following the Pahalgam terror attack — a period when both sides reportedly exchanged missile fire — several civilians lost their lives. Congress leader Rahul Gandhi has decided to take responsibility for the education of 22 children who were orphaned in the Pakistani firing.According to Jammu and Kashmir Congress chief Tariq Hamid Karra, Rahul Gandhi will bear all educational expenses for these children until they complete their graduation. The first contribution of support has already been sanctioned, and this assistance will continue without interruption. The move comes after Gandhi’s visit to Poonch in May, during which he had appealed to local party leaders to identify the children most affected by the cross-border violence. After cross-verifying with government records and conducting field surveys, a final list of 22 children was submitted to him.During his Poonch visit, Gandhi had also stopped by Christ Public School, where two 12-year-old students were among the casualties of Pak firing. Speaking to their classmates, he had said, “You must be missing your friends. You might be feeling scared, but don’t worry, things will get better. The best way to deal with this is to focus on your studies.”The Poonch region, which bore the brunt of the shelling, saw multiple casualties. However, the Indian Army responded strongly, destroying several terrorist hideouts and dealing a heavy blow to Pakistan’s provocations.
