Violent clash over car recovery at Anandnagar: four injured, vehicles vandalised
A violent altercation erupted on the afternoon of May 28 near Krupa Flats in Anandnagar when a team claiming to represent Chola Mandalam Finance attempted to repossess a Swift Dzire vehicle allegedly under loan default. The clash left four people injured and resulted in damage to two other vehicles involved in the scuffle.The complaint was lodged by the victim identified as Naveen Kumar Nayak, a resident of Anandnagar. He stated in his complaint that the incident occurred around 12:30 pm when recovery agents Dilip Raval and Premarbhai Rabari, along with three unidentified accomplices, confronted him outside Krupa Flats over the seizure of the Swift Dzire.As per the police complaint, Naveen had acquired the vehicle from Prakashbhai Chaudhary, a resident of Vaijalpur, on a rental basis. However, when the recovery agents demanded the car keys, Naveen refused, citing pending payment discussions with Chaudhary. The situation escalated quickly, with the agents allegedly hurling abuses and physically assaulting Nayak.The confrontation intensified as Naveen’s relatives, including Dineshbhai Nayak and others, arrived at the scene in an Innova and another Swift vehicle. At that time, Dilip Raval called for reinforcements, bringing in three more unidentified men armed with wooden sticks and knives.The group allegedly attacked Naveen and his family members, including Rajveer Nayak and Shravan Nayak. During the brawl, Kishore Nayak suffered a knife injury on his left hand, while Rajveer sustained severe head and facial injuries. Both the Swift and Innova vehicles' windows were smashed with stones and sticks.As the violence continued, Naveen and Shravan Nayak attempted to take refuge in the Innova but were targeted again by stone-throwing assailants, resulting in injuries and significant damage to the car. Residents intervened, and the injured were rushed to Selby Hospital for treatment.A case has been lodged against Dilip Raval and Premarbhai Rabari, as well as three unidentified assailants, for assault and vandalism at the Anandnagar police station.B K Bharai, Anandnagar police inspector, stated that, “ the investigation is underway to identify and apprehend all involved in the incident. The motive behind the dispute appears to be linked to an outstanding loan on the Swift Dzire.”
