Meta-owned Instagram announced a new rollout of three new features on Wednesday. To help users connect more effectively with their friends, the three features are: ‘reposts’, ‘friend map’, and ‘friends’ feed in the reels tab.Which posts can you repost?According to Instagram’s blog, “You can repost public reels and feed posts, making it easier for you to share your interests with your friends.”Your reposts will be recommended to your friends’ and followers’ feeds, and they’ll also be in a separate tab on your profile, so you can always go back to revisit your reposts. If you’re a creator, this means that if your content is reposted by someone else, it may be recommended to that person’s followers, even if those people don’t follow you. This gives creators a new opportunity to reach more people whenever you create something worth sharing.What is a friend map?Just like Snapchat, Instagram will also have a feature that lets users share their last active location with selected friends, offering a new way to stay connected. Location sharing is off by default and can be customised or turned off anytime. Users choose who sees their location, friends, close friends, or specific people, and can exclude certain places or individuals. Location updates when the app is opened.
