Glade One Resort in SanandThe Ahmedabad Rural Police have widened the scope of their investigation into the high-profile birthday party at Glade One Golf Club and Resort in Sanand, suspecting potential drug use during the event. While no narcotics were recovered at the venue during the raid late Sunday night, officials have sent blood and hookah samples to the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) to determine whether any banned substances were consumed during the party.According to Om Prakash Jat, the Superintendent of Police, Ahmedabad Rural, has directed the investigating officer to ascertain whether any of the 39 guests—13 men and 26 women found in a suspected intoxicated state—had consumed narcotic substances. Their blood samples, already collected following the raid, will be analysed not only for alcohol content but also for traces of psychotropic or recreational drugs. The police have also sent the hookah samples seized from the spot for forensic testing to verify if they were laced with any contraband substances.“We did not recover any drugs from the scene, but we want to ensure that no other illicit substances were used during the party. As per protocol, we are awaiting the forensic report of both the blood and hookah samples,” said Om Prakash Jat.Meanwhile, the investigation has also turned towards the role of Glade One Golf Club and Resort management. Officials are probing whether the resort administration was aware that alcohol was being served at the party, and whether they had prior knowledge of the event violating Gujarat’s strict prohibition laws."Did the management permit the serving of liquor? If so, why was law enforcement not alerted in advance? These are some of the questions we are looking into," the senior official said. When Gujarat Samachar Digital contacted the resort management, they confirmed that the party had been booked by Pratik Sanghi, a resident of Ahmedabad. Police are verifying whether any of the guests who attended the party have any previous involvement in offences under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act or similar prohibition-related violations.A case under the Gujarat Prohibition Act has already been registered, and further legal action is ongoing. Officers are also conducting background checks on all attendees to determine whether any of them have prior records linked to narcotics or illicit liquor offences. The raid, carried out jointly by Sanand, Aslali, Changodar, and Bopal police teams, followed a tip-off regarding a prohibited gathering involving alcohol at the upscale resort. A total of 70 to 80 guests were reportedly in attendance at the time of the raid.Among the items seized from the venue were five sealed bottles of Indian-made foreign liquor, eight partially consumed liquor bottles, 20 empty bottles, 52 glasses used for liquor consumption, seven plastic hookah pipes, and 30 cigarette packets.
