Suhani Shah takes India on global stageRajasthan’s mentalist Suhani Shah, a viral online sensation in the world of online magic, created history by winning the ‘Best Magic Creator 2025’ award at Fédération Internationale des Sociétés Magiques (FISM), translated into English as International Federation of Magic Societies, hailed as ‘Oscars for magicians’.The event, held in Torino, Italy from July 14-19, featured magicians across the world competing in different categories. In the online category, Shah was competing with Jack Rhodes from the UK, Jason Ladanye of US, Jason Maher of Australia, and Mohammed Imani of Dubai.On Instagram as @thesuhanishah, the mentalist enjoys a following of 2.1 million, as her feed features celebrities from India and abroad getting awestruck by her mind-reading abilities.Upon winning the award, she posted a heartfelt video on Instagram, with the caption reading, “Thank you for every clap, every message, every ounce of belief. We made history. Together.”“To anyone out there holding on to a dream, keep going. Even when it feels impossible. Even when the world doubts you. Don’t do it for the applause, the views or the money. Do it because it’s what you love. Because it’s who you are. Because you wouldn’t know how to be anything else,” she added.“Magic happens when you don’t stop…” she said.Shah established herself as India’s first female mentalist, illusionist, and magician over 25 years ago. Interestingly, her first ever show was held in Ahmedabad’s Thakorbhai Desai Hall back in 1997, according to her Wikipedia page.In 2022, she did a 30-city tour, which was billed as the largest mentalism performance the nation had ever seen.On completion of 25 years in her career back then, she had said, “It has been such a cherished learning curve all through these years. As a naive seven-year-old who started off as a starry-eyed girl enchanted by watching magic tricks on television to performing over 5,000 shows across the globe, it’s been such a fulfilling and nuanced joyride.” “Completing 25 years in the business this year has made me realise that even though I don’t have academic laurels backing my legacy, I have always enjoyed the unconditional support of the audience which is a priceless aspect that I am very grateful for.
