The Rupav river in Bhavnagar overflowed on Monday due to heavy rains, creating a flood-like situation in which 38 students from a Model School got stranded in Talgajarda village in Mahuva.A rescue operation was swiftly launched, and all the children were safely rescued.Due to heavy rainfall upstream, the water level in the Rupav River rose suddenly, forcing the schoolchildren to take shelter in a house near the riverbank. Upon learning about the incident, the Mahuva fire team, sub-divisional officer, mamlatdar, and local police reached the scene and initiated the rescue operation.The fire team attempted to reach the children using a boat. Eventually, a tractor was driven into the river to establish contact with the stranded students.As the rain intensity lessened and the river’s flow receded, the rescue efforts accelerated. A human chain was formed at the site, and all the students were safely brought out.As a precautionary measure, the Jamnagar Air Force team was kept on standby. Preparations were also made for airlifting if required. Additionally, a helicopter from Jamnagar had been dispatched, but by the time it arrived, all the students had been safely rescued.
