Two engineers suspended by AMC for approving high numbers of hoardings
Two engineers at the Amdavad Municipal Corporation (AMC) faced suspension for issuing a high number of stability certificates for advertisement hoardings across the city during the town planning committee meeting on Tuesday.The engineers in question – Mahesh Prajapati and Nrupesh Talati – issued a total of 1,995 certificates till July 3, 2025.Committee head Pritish Mehta stated that Prajapati issued 1,218 certificates (1,128 private and 90 tendered sites), while Talati issued certificates for 477 sites (355 private and 122 tendered sites).Both engineers were served notice and a recommendation of suspension by the committee, as it questioned how one individual can issue as many certificates in such a short timespan.Though no incidents have been reported, the estate department has served the notices, demanding to cancel their licences.
