Three Ahmedabad workers drown in Narmada canal in Gandhinagar, two missing, one rescued
Three workers from Motera, Ahmedabad, went missing while one was saved on Thursday. They went to bathe in the Narmada canal located in the Sughad area of Gandhinagar city. Gandhinagar Fire Department rushed to the spot and rescued one of the workers from the canal.According to available information, the three workers, aged between 30 and 35, had entered the canal to bathe. Currently, a cable bridge is under construction over this Narmada canal, which passes underneath.Suddenly, all three got caught in the strong water current and drowned. Hirabhai Jadhav, a local who informed the fire brigade about the incident said, “One worker was rescued with the help of an auto-rickshaw driver.”According to him, they are originally from a village in Maharashtra, and stay in Motera, working as masons. At present, their work was ongoing in Koteshwar. The survivor was identified as Mangesh Kanke, while Roshan Mandavkar and Dhanraj Kadam are missing.Since the area falls under Gandhinagar, a team from the Gandhinagar Fire Department promptly reached the spot and carried out a swift rescue operation, managing to safely pull one worker out and save his life.The fire brigade team is currently conducting a rescue operation in search of the other two workers.Also read:Four feared drowned as car plunges into Narmada canal in Nabhoi, three bodies recovered
