Dumas Land Scam: Fugitive city survey superintendent arrested from Pune

CID Crime Branch has arrested Anant Patel, a former City Survey Superintendent, from Pune in relation to a land scam worth ₹2,000 crore in Surat’s Dumas. Patel had been on the run and was considered a key accused in the case, which involved illegal transfer of government land to private builders.The scam centers around approximately 2.17 lakh square meters of prime government land located under survey number 311/3 in the Dumas area. This land, valued at nearly ₹2,000 crore, was illegally transferred in the name of a tenant farmer named Krishnamukhlal Bhagwandas Shroff, despite no legal ownership or farming rights under Gujarat’s land tenure laws.This fraudulent transaction was carried out by allegedly manipulating government records and bypassing legal procedures.
