Liquor worth ₹8 lakh seized on Valsad highway raid,2 arrested, 8 on the run
In a crackdown on illicit liquor smuggling, the Valsad Rural Police seized Indian Made Foreign Liquor (IMFL) worth nearly ₹8 lakh during a raid conducted late on July 24 and into the early hours of July 25. The operation was carried out on the Gundlav-Khergam highway near Kochawada village in Valsad district, and led to the arrest of two individuals, while eight others involved in the racket are absconding.According to police officials, a total of 2,456 bottles of IMFL, valued at ₹7.93 lakh, were recovered from a Creta car that was intercepted during the raid. Apart from the alcohol, police also seized ₹3,230 in cash, two mobile phones worth ₹10,000, a vehicle valued at ₹7 lakh, and miscellaneous goods worth ₹4,000. The cumulative value of the seized property (mudamal) stands at ₹15.10 lakhThe arrested accused have been identified as:Chinu alias Nitesh Babubhai Nayak, resident of Pardi taluka, Valsad district; driver of the Creta car.Hiteshbhai alias Hitu Dineshbhai Dhodia Patel, resident of Pardi taluka, Valsad district; serving as the cleaner of the vehicle.Both have been handed over to the Valsad Rural Police for further investigation.The case was registered under multiple sections of the Gujarat Prohibition Act alongside sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS)Police are actively searching for eight more individuals who played key roles in the supply, transport, and distribution of the contraband liquor. Those absconding include:1. Hitesh Thakorbhai Patel (supplier)2. Divyesh alias Divyo Patel (supplier)3. Sandip (escorting car)4. Pratik Vankad (supplier)5. Dipak alias Dipko, (supplier).6. Yogesh Karcheliya, (receiver)7. Keyur Bhandari, (receiver)8. Unidentified owner of the Creta carAuthorities said further raids are likely and the search for the remaining accused is ongoing.
