BJP leaders protest after potholes go unrepaired in Valsad’s Kaprada in BJP-ruled Gujarat
Pothole ridden GujaratIn BJP-ruled Gujarat, leaders from the ruling party itself were seen protesting against the state of infrastructure. Valsad district panchayat president and Kaprada taluka panchayat president, both BJP leaders, staged a unique protest by sitting inside potholes on National Highway No 848, expressing their frustration over the poor condition of roads.The district collector and the local MP have been ineffective against the National Highways Authority, alleged the BJP leaders, expressing helplessness. The protest has also exposed the failure of the collector’s claim made 10 days prior that all potholes would be filled soon.The roads on all three highways passing through Valsad district are reportedly in such bad condition that people on social media are jokingly asking, “Where is the road amid the potholes?” Netizens have mocked BJP MPs, MLAs, and leaders for the deteriorating infrastructure.District panchayat president Manharbhai Patel visited Kaprada on Tuesday, and encountered big potholes on the way. On reaching Kaprada, Taluka panchayat president Hiraben Mahala, along with BJP workers, expressed their anger over the poor road conditions.President Patel tried contacting the officer of the NHAI, but reportedly lost his temper after receiving no proper response. Frustrated, he joined other BJP workers in a sit-in protest near the potholes.Earlier, Collector Bhavya Verma had issued a notice to the NHAI, instructing them to fill all potholes on the highways within 10 days. However, with more than twice that time having passed and the road conditions worsening, even BJP’s own district and taluka leaders have now admitted to their government’s failure.As leaders themselves openly blame local MP Dhawal Patel and MLA Jitu Chaudhary for not resolving the issue, the ruling government’s failure is clearly visible.
