Due to heavy rains and floods in Jammu Division of Northern Railway, rail operations were disrupted for some time and the railway bridges of the division were damaged. Meanwhile, railway bridge number 232 built on Chakki river between Pathankot Cantt and Kandrodi block area of Jammu division was damaged.
At present, repair work is still going on on this railway bridge number 232. Similarly, railway bridge number 17 which is located between Kathua and Madhopur Punjab and railway bridge number 137 which is located between Ghagwal and Hiranagar.
Repair work is also going on smoothly on these. Under which today on 7 September 2025, a comprehensive inspection of all these bridges was done by Divisional Railway Manager of Jammu Division, Vivek Kumar, Senior Divisional Commercial Manager Uchit Singhal and other senior officers. The main purpose of the inspection was to take stock of the ongoing repair work on the bridge. Because recently the bridges were damaged due to sudden floods and strong currents in the Chakki river. Due to which there were a lot of problems in rail operations. More than 250 people are currently working on this bridge during the repair work. And this repair work will be completed soon.
During this inspection, Divisional Railway Manager of Jammu, Vivek Kumar said that “The safety of passengers is our top priority. After the flood incidents, we immediately started a detailed inspection of the infrastructure of a total of 232 bridges and till now all the necessary repair work is being completed and instructions have also been given to complete it soon.”
