Only 9 fire safety certification requests received in Ahmedabad with just 5 days to go for Navratri
With just five days left for the Navratri festival, which begins on September 22, only nine organisers in Ahmedabad have so far applied to the Fire Department for fire safety certificates to host garba events.As per the new guidelines, organisers must submit an online application and later deposit a hard copy at Jamalpur Fire Station at least three days before the event. They are also required to sign a ₹300 bond undertaking strict compliance with the 32-point Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) issued for garba events.Chief Fire Officer Amit Dongre stated that by the evening of Monday (Sept 15), the department had received nine online applications for fire safety certificates. Separate fire teams will conduct site inspections to verify whether the applicants have complied with all SOP requirements. Only after successful inspection will the certificate be issued.In addition to fire safety approval, organisers are also required to obtain permissions from the police, traffic department, and municipal corporation. With such limited time left, obtaining all the necessary clearances before Navratri begins could pose a challenge for many organisers.
