Timely police action reunites missing 5-year-old girl with family in Maninagar

In a heartwarming display of swift coordination and public service, the Maninagar police in Ahmedabad successfully traced the family of a 5-year-old girl found crying and alone near Jawahar Chowk on Sunday. Thanks to the timely efforts of the police, the child was safely reunited with her parents within hours.The incident unfolded when a passerby noticed a young girl, visibly distressed and in tears, wandering near Jawahar Chowk. On being informed, Maninagar police personnel, including Head Constable Rajeshbhai, Constable Shaileshbhai, and Head Constable Arvindbhai of the Maninagar patrol van, safely brought the child to the station.During preliminary questioning, the girl identified herself as Sofia but was unable to provide any information regarding her address or her parents’ names, leaving officers with very little headway.Taking the matter seriously, the city’s Deputy Commissioner of Police for Zone-6, Ravi Mohan Saini, formed a rapid response team and began a search in the nearby area for her parents.The officers not only looked after the child — offering her food and comfort — but also circulated her photo and details in local WhatsApp groups and sought help from nearby residents. The team patrolled nearby areas with the girl in a police van in hopes of locating someone who recognised her.Their efforts bore fruit when the child’s family was traced to Millatnagar in Isanpur, where her father, Musifar Gulam Mehndi Malik, a daily-wage labourer, resides behind Rahimbhai ni Chali near the local mosque. Police reunited the child with her relieved father, who broke down in tears upon seeing his daughter safe, creating an emotional scene at the station.“If not for the swift and sensitive action of the Maninagar police, the family might have continued searching for hours in distress,” said DCP Saini.The family expressed deep gratitude to the Ahmedabad City Police for their prompt response and compassionate handling of the situation. Officers also took the opportunity to advise parents and guardians to remain vigilant and attentive towards their children in public areas.
