Truck driver stabbed to death after argument over scooter blocking road in Sanand, accused arrested

The accused, identified as Maheshbhai Vaghela, was apprehended within hours of the incident along with the murder weapon.According to the Sanand GIDC Police, the incident took place around 6.30 am on July 29 near the Zero Homes complex in Sanand. Truck driver Mahipal Surajbhan Yadav (62) was on his way for tea along with Jitendra Jawaharlal Roth when they found a rickshaw and a two-wheeler obstructing the road in front of a pan parlour.When Yadav asked Vaghela, who was standing nearby, to move the parked Activa scooter to the side, Vaghela refused and began shouting aggressively. Roth then got down from the truck and moved the scooter aside himself. As Yadav proceeded to drive the truck forward, Vaghela allegedly took offence and attacked Yadav with a metal pipe on his shoulder. He then pulled out a knife and stabbed Yadav in the chest and near his right thumb, resulting in Yadav’s death on the spot.Roth was also injured in the attack after being struck with the metal pipe on his left hand and leg. Vaghela then fled the scene, prompting police to register an FIR under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and Gujarat Police Act.A team was formed to trace and apprehend the accused. Using a combination of technical surveillance and human intelligence, the police tracked down Vaghela within a few hours and recovered the knife used in the murder.The accused, originally from Khicha village and currently residing in Charal, Sanand, is now in police custody as investigations continue.
