Two flyers from Dubai nabbed at Surat airport with gold worth ₹23 cr
Representative ImageThe CISF (Central Industrial Security Force) has caught two passengers travelling from Dubai who had hidden gold in the paste form worth ₹23.23 crore at Surat International Airport on Sunday.The passengers had arrived from Dubai on an Air India flight that landed at Surat Airport at 10 pm on Sunday.The vigilance team had received intelligence that two passengers were smuggling a large amount of gold from Dubai.Acting on this intel, CISF staff checked the two suspicious passengers and their bags, after a thorough body check, two passengers with hidden gold paste on their bodies were caught. The gold paste weighed 23 kg and was valued at ₹23.23 crore.Both passengers were then arrested.Earlier on July 14, Vadodara Police had arrested three individuals for trying to smuggle gold powder worth ₹1.81 crore hidden inside socks near Dumas,Vadodara. The police also seized gold powder, e-cigarettes, and liquor bottles during the operation.As per the information shared, the police had received an intel tip-off about potential smuggling activity in the area. Acting on this, they had deployed teams at various locations to intercept the suspects. Near Dumas, two individuals arrived in a private vehicle, followed by a bike rider. The police, acting swiftly, detained all three on the spot and had seized the gold.
