Junagadh school principal, warden arrested for inappropriately touching 4 minor students
Principal Keval Lakhanotra and Warden Hiren Joshi of Ma Aamar Shaikshanik Sankul school in Junagadh’s Bhesan were arrested on Tuesday following a complaint of inappropriately touching minor students. The police have sought a five-day remand of the accused.With parents of the victims hesitating to file a complaint, counselling sessions with the students revealed that four of them had been physically harassed by the accused.On Monday, managing trustee Lalit Savaliya filed a complaint at the Bhesan police station over the incidents.Two other children are said to have witnessed the incident. Based on this, the police registered a case under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, POCSO Act, Juvenile Justice Act, and Child Protection laws.“We are investigating the case and collecting statements of parents and students of the school,” said Police Inspector Sumra.Junagadh, considered an ‘educational hub’ of Gujarat, has put parents in a conundrum regarding the safety of their students in hostels and schools.As per the Child Welfare Committee, “Counselling of 120 students of the school and their parents is underway.
