The Special Operations Group (SOG) of the Ahmedabad City Crime Branch has arrested a 23-year-old woman from the Fatehwadi area of Vejalpur in Ahmedabad for possessing counterfeit Indian currency notes amounting to ₹26,400.Acting on specific intelligence, a team of the SOG apprehended the accused, identified as Samara Khan, daughter of Sameer Khan Rehman Pathan, from outside Sawan Hall in Vejalpur on August 6. The police recovered 27 fake ₹500 notes from her possession, along with other incriminating materials.According to officials, Samara Khan had allegedly been circulating fake ₹500 notes in the local market. Preliminary investigation suggests she may be linked to a wider network involved in printing and distributing counterfeit currency. Police suspect that another individual, possibly the main supplier, remains at large.A case has been registered against the accused at the Delection of Crime branch (DCB) Police Station of Ahmedabad, under Sections of Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, and further investigation is on.Police officials have stated that they are actively probing the source of the counterfeit notes and have not ruled out the possibility of more arrests in the coming days.
