Pakistani woman, son, grandson caught living in Rajkot’s Lodhika despite visa expiration
The Rajkot Rural Police on Saturday detained three Pakistani nationals residing illegally on Chibhadanaka Road in Lodhika, Rajkot for the past 25 years. The detainees include 50-year-old Rizwana Munafbhai Tatariya, her son Zeeshan Munaf Tatariya (29) and Zeeshan’s minor son.According to sources in the Rajkot Rural Police, Munaf Tatariya, a native of Lodhika, had gone to Karachi on a work permit in 1992. There he married Rizwana, daughter of Aman alias Ahmed Abdullakasam Dhara Khatri, a Pakistani citizen born in Pakistan in 1975. During their stay in Karachi, they had a son, Zeeshan, who was born in Pakistan and remains a Pakistani national to this day.In 1994, Munaf returned to India, and later, on July 30, 1999, his wife Rizwana and son Zeeshan came to Lodhika, Rajkot, on Pakistani passports. Despite their visa expiration, they chose not to return to Pakistan and stayed on illegally in India.Notably, Zeeshan, without disclosing his Pakistani citizenship and without having Indian citizenship, married an Indian woman in 2021. They had a child on September 10, 2022, who, by law, is also considered a Pakistani national. Thus, the police took custody of all three — the Pakistani woman, her son, and grandson.The action was carried out by Police Sub Inspector (PSI) H C Gohil of the LCB and Police Inspector (PI) I M Sarvaiya of Lodhika Police. A report will be sent to the Ministry of Home Affairs, and steps will be taken to deport all three individuals to Pakistan.
