Civic officials in Rajkot offered ₹270 for supervision in junior clerk exam across Gujarat, demand better pay
As many as 514 employees at Rajkot Municipal Corporation (RMC) rushed into the municipal commissioner’s office on Friday, demanding better pay for supervisory duties at the junior clerk recruitment exam to be conducted in Rajkot, Ahmedabad, and Vadodara on Sunday.According to a tweet by activist Yuvrajsinh Jadeja, the employees expressed dissent over the TA/DA of ₹270, and made a presentation to the deputy commissioner, assistant commissioner, and others, demanding better pay.The total cost of taking charge of the centre a day before the exam, including bus fare, auto-rickshaw fare, hotel expenses for the night stay and four meals for two days, is approximately ₹3,000, but the employees are being exploited by paying only ₹270, said the tweet.Moreover, the TA/DA or honorarium for the previous eight to ten recruitment exams has not been paid, alleged Jadeja in the tweet.The recruitment examination for 128 posts of Junior Clerk will be conducted at a total of 225 centres including 111 centres in Rajkot, 87 in Ahmedabad and 27 in Vadodara, with 60,525 candidates appearing for the examination.
