‘Zombie E-cigarettes’ worth ₹20 lakh seized in Gujarat’s Navsari
In a first-of-its-kind case in Gujarat, the State Monitoring Cell (SMC) has seized cannabis-based disposable e-cigarettes, commonly known as ‘Zombie E-Cigarettes’, valued at ₹20 lakh from the Vansda taluka of Navsari district.The SMC team conducted a raid in Chapaldhara village and arrested two youths – Tanmay Patel (27) and Milan Dhanagar (30). The operation led to the confiscation of 80 grams of hybrid marijuana worth ₹8 lakh and 20 e-cigarettes containing active cannabis compounds worth ₹20 lakh. The total seizure amounted to ₹28.15 lakh, including mobile phones and other items.According to PI Chandrashekhar Panara of the Gujarat State Monitoring Cell (SMC), the team received a tip-off that Milan Dhanagar and his accomplice were hiding a stash of hybrid marijuana and disposable vape devices in a house near Ambe Mata temple in Chapaldhara.Acting on this intel, the team raided the location and conducted a thorough search of Tanmay Patel’s second house, where the illegal items were found.During interrogation, it was revealed that the marijuana was sourced from Atif, a wanted individual based in Vapi, while the e-cigarettes were ordered online via the dark web.This is the first recorded case in Gujarat involving the seizure of e-cigarettes infused with active cannabis components, marking a significant breakthrough in the state’s fight against drug-related offenses.Police have launched further investigations and are actively tracing the source network, especially focusing on dark web transactions and Vapi-based suppliers.
