50% of food delivery workers in Vadodara hold degrees
With the rise of the quick-commerce industry in Vadodara, where everything from cooked meals to groceries is being delivered straight to people’s homes, thousands of individuals are working as delivery workers in this growing sector. Contrary to common perception, delivery jobs have now become a means of employment even for degree holders.According to a survey conducted by an MBA student from the Faculty of Management at M S University, 42% of the delivery workers take up the job to help cover the cost of their education. The study revealed that 50% of food delivery personnel hold either a graduate or postgraduate degree. This clearly indicates that a significant number of educated youth are engaged in delivery jobs to earn a livelihood.The student stated that she interviewed workers from various companies, and 49 of the respondents were under the age of 48. Most of them had been doing this job for over a year. Of these, 40% had a graduate-level degree, and 9 individuals had completed postgraduate studies. Meanwhile, 21% had studied only up to the 12th standard or less.She further noted that 42% of the workers were engaged in delivery on a part-time basis. Many of them were doing so to cover college expenses, while others took up delivery work alongside another job to earn some extra income.
